The Brief

Anyone who knows adidas will know the Originals Superstar sneakers. A classic design that first made its appearance in 1970, it remains an icon and has seen a resurgence after being worn by popular celebrities today. adidas Originals and the LEGO Group reunite to present a bold take on the classic Superstar silhouette with its own buildable variant. To encourage the LEGO community to strike their best pose with the Superstar LEGO brick model, we worked on a hype video to challenge all netizens and influencers to get creative.

The Approach

LEGO has always been known for its fun and vibrant brand personality. This project was a great way to exemplify that playfulness—we built the Originals Superstar model, shot and rotoscoped it, and played with 2D animation and real-life LEGO bricks as the backdrop for our video. LEGO also commissioned six diverse creatives to style their own interpretation of the brick-built sneaker, and we weaved the final products into the video to inspire the community and give the talented artists a well-deserved shoutout.
